COVID-19 vaccination update
Further to our involvement in high-level COVID consultations, the College is now participating in discussions with the Commonwealth and some states and territories regarding all aspects of the rollout of the COVID vaccination, and especially its administration in rural and remote areas and in the primary care sector.

The Australian Government is expecting approval of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines by the end of this month, with a rollout to priority groups beginning mid-February. In addition to being able to administer the vaccine when available, healthcare professionals will also be able to receive the vaccine in rollout phases. For the latest information about the vaccine, please refer to the letter and stakeholder kit provided from Professor Paul Kelly, Chief Medical Officer, Australian Government Department of Health.

We remain committed to providing timely and accurate information and resources to our members and will circulate all relevant information as it becomes available. This will include education and communication resources. You can also refer to our COVID webpages where a new section on vaccination has been added.
