Federal Budget Announces Emgality PBS Listing 

Last night the Federal Budget was announced for 2021-22 which included the recognition of several significant new PBS listings one of which was Galcanezumab (Emgality®) for chronic migraine.

The Department of Health website states that "from June 2021, Emgality® (galcanezumab) for the treatment of chronic migraine which, for around 10,000 patients will mean they are not faced with out of pocket costs in excess of $6,800 each year".

It is important to note that only a neurologist or pain specialist will be able to prescribe Emgality. PBS pricing will not be available from a local GP or family doctor.
